Your work report should be presented without errors.

You have to be fast in completing tasks assigned to you at work.
You have to be available in your child’s school during the parent’s evening.
You have to assist with their homework as well.
Your mother is old and lonely in her home and requires your availability, some days.
You also have to be at your gym classes every Saturday morning.
The list is endless.
Today’s fast-paced world often requires us to juggle multiple responsibilities: work deadlines, family commitments, and social obligations, thereby leaving our mental health overlooked and unattended.
The fact remains that we are all responsible for taking care of our mental well-being if we want to
perform our best and be productive. Here are a few insights on how prioritizing mental health can
transform your professional life:
  • Boosted Productivity: Mental wellness improves our performance and productivity levels. It has been proven that, with a clear mental picture, one can address problems more easily and construct better solutions.
  • Resilience to Stress: Mental wellness enables us to control stress better. By adopting mindfulness practices or engaging in regular physical activity, we can build resilience against workplace pressures.
  • Improved Social Relationships: A healthy mindset fosters positive communication and collaboration. When we feel balanced, we can better support our colleagues and contribute to a harmonious work environment
  • Increased Job Motivation/Satisfaction: Mental health intervention can also bring a form of positive change regarding one’s attitude towards work. Motivated employees self-perform at better levels and as such, take smaller sick leaves, the same goes with satisfied employees.
We all must understand that prioritizing mental wellness is a strength, not a weakness.
It is normal to experience bad moods, stress, worry, anger, and even changes in eating or sleeping patterns as a result of a mental breakdown.
Everyone has days when they are at their lowest point and it’s normal to have motivational slumps occasionally. But sometimes these days can turn into weeks or months and become overwhelming.
Just the way we experience deterioration in our physical health as a result of stress and illness, we also experience deterioration in our mental health due to negative thoughts and emotions, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and lack of self-care.
There is really nothing to be ashamed of and millions of us experience mental ill health every year. So, it’s okay to seek help if you notice your mental health is in a bad state.
It could be seeking support from a mentor, taking a mental health day, or exploring professional counseling.
If you notice someone’s behaviour has been unusual for more than a couple of weeks, please check in on them as they may need to seek professional help.
Let’s work together to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health in the workplace. This can be achieved through collaboration, sharing of experiences, supporting one another, directing one another for mental health support.
The major aim is to create an environment where mental wellness is equally regarded as productivity.
Today, could you take a moment to check in with yourself? What small effort will you make to improve your mental health?
